Boat over to The Birches Resort for lunch or a cold beer. Across from Mount Kineo, just north of Rockwood on the west side of the lake, The Birches Resort offers outdoor dining with a fantastic view of the water.

Loop around Sugar and Deer Island to catch a glance of Lily Bay State Park and Mount Kineo along with views of Big and Little Moose Public Lands. Take a moment to cut the engine and hear Loons calling.

The State of Maine’s Bureau of Parks and Lands has established about half a dozen primitive campsites on Sugar Island. They are available on a first come, first serve basis and feature a fire ring and picnic table – only accessible by boat.

Just past Sugar Island is the pebble beach of Donut Cove. Beach the boat and spend the day hanging onshore with friends. Returning to town midday? Dock at Kelly’s Landing in the Westcove for lunch or park at Crafts Landing Park to grab a french delight from Cafe Crepe food truck.
